My conversation with Kim

Kim Richards called me Wednesday evening, February 9, 2000, and we were talking for 1 wonderful hour. First, she asked me if I was sure it was her, and I said I was. She asked me how I could be sure and I said her voice. She wanted me to ask her some questions to make sure, but I told her I didn't need to ask any questions, besides, I wasn't able to think for a few minutes to ask questions any way. She told me a few things about herself.

First, she told me why she decided to call. She has been getting fan mail daily all the time and does not have the time to read it all, or the time to respond, so she just reads whatever she has a chance to read, and doesn't respond often. She decided to respond to my letter because:

1 - Her mother had been telling her lately that she should try to respond more often.

2 - I was telling her about this site, and her fanclub, and asked her if they were OK with her. I even said I would close them down if she wanted.

3 - Because of her father passing away recently and a couple other problems, she had been having a hard time, and she said the letter touched her because I sounded like I was a friend. She said that after reading the letter she felt like she knew me.

Now some of what she told me...

Kim is currently single and has 4 daughters. One of her daughters got a horse for Christmas, but she rides it herself every morning. Her oldest daughter, Brooke, 13, got a laptop computer for Christmas and spends as much time on it as any 13 year old would. Kim, herself didn't have a computer at the time, but said she was going to get one.

She said she enjoys her retirement and finds it very nice to live a casual life like the rest of us. She doesn't regret the years she spent acting, but was happy when she had the time to do her own thing. She may return to some acting, but hasn't decided yet. She gets regular calls to make appearances and may someday make an appearance.

When she called back, she said she liked the fan club and this site, and would probably join the fan club.

Good news for fans

First, like I just mentioned, she may return to show biz. Many people would like that, but we only want her to return because it's what she wants. We just want her to be happy in whatever she decides to do. After all, she has made many people happy, so she deserves happiness in return.

Second, when she called back, she said she had been talking to Kyle, and they were going to send me some recent pictures that I will scan and put on this site as soon as I get them.

Third, Kim said that she is going to try to reply to letters more often, and send photographs to her fans.

Now some bad news

Her father passed away in 1999 and soon after, it was discovered her mother has terminal breast cancer. She is handling it, but even though she may have been more famous than most of us, she is just as much, if not more so, a real person as we are. Kim and her sisters are staying closer together, and spending extra time with their mother. Kim, just like anyone else needs friends, and we all know that she has many friends.

To Kim:
We all offer our condolences and our prayers and wishes for the best to you.
Many people love you and want to thank you for all the happiness you have brought to our lives, and I personally want to thank you very much for making my dreams come true. You have my prayer and love forever. I always wished I could know you as a real person, and now I do. You are a beautiful and wonderful person who deserves true happiness.

Your fan for eternity,
Mike
